In this piece, I represent the historic and contemporary uses of the Atlantic Ocean as a space of trade, and the exploitation of bodies as commodities. Cardboard boxes as an important form of moving commodities--mimicking Pre-Colonial architecture form a screen. Viewers are invited to sit on a traditional worker's mattress made of tarp and straw, and listen to a lullaby through headphones. On the floor, 12,000 coins replicas made of quinoa and coca leaf (two of Bolivia's commodity crops) and wrapped in silver leaf are made to resemble Colonial Potosi currency.
