Desplazamiento y Subsuelo 2021 a close translation (displacement and under the soil) is an installation made of fabric, glass beds, rescue blankets, and copper rods. This borderless cartography is made with "flowers" individually hand-sewn into the shape of a map. the fabric that is used for the piece comes from mantas (shawls) that are contemporary worn bu indigenous women in Bolivia and parts of the Andean region. This work is focused on extractivsm, natural migration, the bodies--the earth, people, and other beings that are displaced and extracted. The map has no constructed borders to talk about the sociopolitical borders around the world and the glass beads create the maritime routes where commodities that have influence on displacement and forced labor travel.
